Improving EPSDT Care and Reimbursement

Dear Provider,

You can receive payment for each completed Standard Medical Record Form ("SMRF"). SMRFs are a well-child examination tool created by local pediatric providers to help improve the quality and documentation of all HealthCheck services.

HealthCheck is the District of Columbia's Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) program. Through this program, Medicaid-eligible children under the age of 21 receive health services such as lead screening, hearing, vision, & dental services, comprehensive physical exams, lab tests, health education/anticipatory guidance, and immunizations.

We have attached a copy of a flyer that provides more information about SMRFs. You can also visit http://www.brightfutures.org/healthcheck to get more information about HealthCheck training on the SMRFs and PDF forms, the entire HealthCheck Manual & Periodicity Schedule, Bright Futures anticipatory guidance, and other relevant DC Provider resources.

You may also visit our website for other EPSDT related provider education information. Please feel free to contact each MCO if you have additional questions. Thank you for your support.
